American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is a significant legislation passed in 2009 as a countermeasure to the economic crisis that started in 2008. Initiated by Obama administration, the act was designed to stimulate economic growth in the aftermath of the Great Recession. It aimed to revive the economy through an extensive package of approximately $831 billion, making it one of the largest stimulus packages in U.S. history.

The act was primarily designed to save and create jobs, foster economic activity, invest in long-term growth, and promote accountability and transparency in government spending. It had a broad impact on various sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, energy, and federal contracts. For General Services Administration (GSA), ARRA provided an opportunity to fund high-priority projects, improve federal buildings and facilities, and contribute to economic recovery.
