Office of Civil Rights (OCR)

Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is a distinguished branch of General Services Administration (GSA). The OCR is entrusted with the significant responsibility of administering five crucial programs, all of which are related to federal civil rights laws and regulations. These programs stand testament to the commitment of federal government towards upholding the rights of every citizen.

OCR’s programs include Equal employment opportunity, Affirmative employment, Nondiscrimination in federally conducted programs and activities, Environmental justice, and Nondiscrimination in federally assisted programs and activities. Besides managing these programs, OCR also oversees the appeals process for administrative grievances that GSA employees file. This dual role of program management and dispute resolution adds remarkable depth to OCR’s function, highlighting its critical role in ensuring civil rights compliance within the federal domain.
