Office of General Counsel (OGC) is an integral department within General Services Administration (GSA), primarily responsible for offering legal guidance and representation to GSA officials. Conceived to ensure the proper implementation of GSA’s statutory responsibilities, OGC’s role in maintaining the legal integrity of the agency’s operations is pivotal. This office is the cornerstone for ensuring all GSA activities comply with relevant legal standards and protocols, thereby preventing potential legal pitfalls.
However, it is important to note that OGC does not handle all of the agency’s legal activities. The legal undertakings of Office of Inspector General and Civilian Board of Contract Appeals are exceptions to OGC’s jurisdiction. Despite this, OGC’s function remains the backbone of GSA’s legal operations, standing firm as the primary legal advisor to GSA officials, and diligently safeguarding the agency’s statutory obligations.
