SBA 8(a) Program Development Phase

SBA 8(a) Program Development Phase is a critical stage in the overall 8(a) Business Development Program offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA), a U.S federal agency. This phase, which spans four to nine years, aims to assist small, disadvantaged businesses in gaining a foothold in the marketplace by developing their competitive and institutional know-how.

During the Development Phase, participating businesses receive individualized business development plans, which include mentoring, counseling, and training to help them expand. SBA also offers assistance in navigating federal contracting, access to surplus government property and supplies, and the ability to form joint ventures with established businesses. The ultimate goal is to empower these small businesses to graduate from the program as thriving, competitive businesses.
