GSA Competition Analysis

The goal of competitive analysis

GSA competition analysis pursues three major goals:
  • Find out what the Government buys
  • Evaluate pricing
  • Monitor competitors

Let’s take a closer look at each goal and see how a vendor can perform such an analysis.

HOW TO FIND OUT WHAT THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS

Selling what the Government really needs is key to good sales. The demand in certain types of products and services is not constant and changes over time. A thorough analysis can give you clues about what the government needs at any given time, so you can add those highly demanded products to your catalog.

Price Reporter offers a special tool to evaluate current demand, sales data from previous years, and the most popular brands in each SIN category. With this information, you can adjust your offer to existing needs of the Government and even estimate your future performance.

How to evaluate pricing on the federal market

Pricing is the major deciding factor for a government buyer. The Federal Acquisition Regulations require federal agencies to buy at the lowest prices, whenever possible. This means that setting competitive prices for your products is a pledge of success on the federal market.

To evaluate pricing, you can use Price Reporter’s unique pricing tool. The tool allows you to estimate actual prices on the market in your GSA category and specific SINs, compare those prices with your own rates and costs, and set them at more competitive levels. Note, that while lower prices are preferred, simply lowering them by guessing is not the way to go about this. Price optimization is a delicate process, based on an ongoing GSA market evaluation.

      Testimonials

Price Reporter recently helped us with our 3rd GSA contract, the 2nd they did with us. It was the fastest we've ever been through the process with GSA. Each step was easy because the ground work was done before we were asked to do anything. Our pricing verification phase went smooth and quickly and both our contracts were accepted without rejection, with minimal negotiations with contracting.
