GSA has issued an important compliance reminder regarding the use of Amazon and other non-MAS online marketplaces to fulfill Multiple Award Schedule orders.
The notice was updated on July 30, 2026, to clarify its scope. It applies specifically to the use of non-MAS online marketplaces for MAS order fulfillment.
If you've ever struggled with rejected photos or limited visibility into upload errors, these updates are worth your attention.
Key Improvements
Detailed Photo Processing Reports
See whether all, some, or none of your photos were successfully processed.
Receive specific error messages for failed images.
Separate reports are generated for each uploaded ZIP file.
Clear instructions are provided for resubmitting failed photos.
Photo Upload History
A new “View Photo File History” option allows contractors to review previous photo submissions, uploaded files, and processing results directly from the Catalog Overview page.
Much Larger Upload Limits
GSA has significantly increased file size limits:
- Individual image: from 1 MB ➜ 10 MB
- ZIP archive: from 600 MB ➜ 2 GB
This should reduce the need for image compression and splitting large photo packages.
What Didn’t Change
Some of the most important requirements remain exactly the same:
- File names must exactly match the Photo File Reference in your approved Product File.
- Only JPG, JPEG, and non-animated GIF formats are accepted.
- Minimum image resolution remains 500 × 500 pixels.
- Images must accurately represent the product (logos or unrelated photos are still not permitted).
Remember that GSA Advantage will continue compressing high-resolution images before publishing, so larger uploads mainly improve the submission process rather than the final image quality customers see.

These enhancements won’t change your catalog overnight, but they should make photo management considerably more efficient by:
- Reducing troubleshooting time
- Providing clearer error reporting
- Supporting larger, more practical uploads
- Making it easier to maintain high-quality product listings
